Application in polymer
Some of the non-metallic minerals play a very important role during the production of polymer, both as filler and mineral reinforcement. Under most situations, minerals have both properties. Wollastonite, with its special reinforcement property, can also have these functions. The thermal stability, low resin demand and chemical purity make wollastontie to be an ideal reinforcement in thermoplastics, engineering alloys, thermosets and elastomers. Due to its acicular structure, wollastonite provides an increase in flexural modulus, scratch resistance and heat distortion temperature while reducing CLTE and shrinkage .Ultrafine, high strength reinforcements offer compounders weight reduction to achieve lower density composites.
